Gold Canada Gold
Not long after Canada broke a 50-year Olympic gold medal drought in 2002 by beating Team USA at Salt Lake, veteran American forward Jeremy Roenick was asked to explain what might have separated the two high-flying teams in the deciding game. Not as a matter of life or death of course, even if Team Canada was representing a country where hockey success tends be the No. 1 shared source of national pride. Then again it might have seemed that way to the Canadian players, who were there to avenge the 1998 debacle in Nagano when NHLers were in the Olympics for the first time and Team Canada didn't even earn a medal.
